Industrial spare parts can pass through several businesses before the final customer requests a courier. For an Aberdeen collection, confirm who physically holds the goods and which reference authorises release. The supplier on the purchase order may not be the warehouse or workshop where the driver must collect.
Get the company name, full address, goods-out entrance and direct contact. Ask the goods holder to confirm the release reference, part description and quantity. If the order was placed through an intermediary, make sure the collection authority has reached the people at the loading point.
Where a port-related site is involved, obtain its specific access instructions. Port of Aberdeen publishes port and quayside information, but a general port map is not permission to enter a particular work area. Confirm the site, gate and authorised handover point before dispatch.
Provide packed dimensions, weight and any supporting pallet or crate. Identify loose accessories and parts that must remain upright. Ask the supplier to prepare the load for the agreed handling method; the driver should not be expected to engineer a lifting arrangement on arrival.
Declare used parts, residual fluids, batteries or other contents that may affect acceptance. State the value and ask about applicable cover and exclusions. Industrial appearance does not mean a component is robust enough to travel unprotected.
Confirm when the goods will actually be ready, not simply when a supplier expects to finish work on them. Give the destination’s receiving hours and any fixed appointment. If testing or inspection must happen before release, include that dependency in the schedule.
Name the person authorised to change the plan if release is delayed. Discuss the consequences for the onward journey before the vehicle is committed. An urgent requirement still needs a feasible route and an available suitable vehicle.
See BHA’s Scotland coverage for Aberdeen and industrial and energy-sector delivery information. Send the verified release and load details for a quotation. Restricted access and specialist handling require individual confirmation.
Consult Port of Aberdeen’s official port information where relevant, then obtain instructions from the actual receiving or releasing site. No standing BHA port access or operator contract is implied. Source checked 16 October 2026.
