Collecting several orders on one vehicle can be convenient, but only when the collection windows, load capacity and final delivery deadline fit together. For suppliers in Slough, prepare a separate instruction for each stop before asking BHA to assess the route. A list of postcodes without ready times hides the main scheduling risk.
For each stop, record the business, exact address, goods-out entrance, contact number and release reference. Add the package count, dimensions and weight. Confirm that the order is packed and available, not merely expected in stock. Keep each supplier’s information separate so one reference cannot be mistaken for another.
SEGRO’s information describes Slough Trading Estate as a substantial business location. Even where suppliers are in the same estate, their entrances and goods-out processes may differ. Do not assume that neighbouring postcodes mean a driver can complete both handovers without waiting or booking-in.
Give the earliest ready time and latest collection time for every supplier, as well as the destination’s receiving deadline. Ask BHA to assess the sequence. The geographically shortest route may not be workable if the first supplier releases goods after another supplier has closed.
If one order is not ready, agree who can decide whether to wait, omit that stop or arrange a separate movement. A revised plan may change the price and delivery timing. The driver should not have to make that commercial decision without instructions from the booking contact.
Provide totals as well as the individual load details. Identify items that cannot be stacked or placed beside one another, and explain whether later collections will require access to earlier packages. A van with enough total volume may still be unsuitable for a mix of long items, pallets and fragile boxes.
Discuss whether all consignments are part of the same agreed customer load and how they will be identified at delivery. Adding an unquoted stop or another business’s goods should be cleared with BHA before the vehicle is dispatched. Dedicated service and co-loading arrangements must remain consistent with the booking.
Give the recipient a list of what should arrive from each supplier. Keep any shortages recorded against the relevant collection reference rather than a single undifferentiated package total. Agree the delivery confirmation needed to close the job.
